Terry Birtles joined the CCAE in 1970 as Principal Lecturer in Applied Geography. He recruited staff both locally and internationally, developed the Bachelor of Applied Science in Geography degree course and introduced elective courses in Applied Geography for students in other disciplines. He recounts some amusing incidents in his dealings with the then Principal, Dr Sam Richardson.
